The Artist-in-Residence program is designed to support regional
artists in the pursuit of their artistic goals and provide a venue
for them to share their artistic talents with the public. The program
supports noteworthy regional artists in their artistic endeavors
while at the same time provide community-based programs in their
field. The AIR program provides studio space in which artists can
enhance their creative vision while providing classes, workshops,
lectures, performances, public rehearsals and other special outreach
programs.
AIRs can work in any artistic field including the performing, visual,
and language arts.
Local Artist-in-Residence Program at MHCA
The Artist-in-Residence (AIR) Program is designed to allow Maryland
artists access to affordable studio space while interfacing with
the community. Artists creating original work in any media, including
visual, performing, and the language arts, are invited to submit
an application. The application includes a portfolio, an artist
statement, resume, and an action plan outlining the artist’s
intentions while participating in the program. An outside jury will
review applicants. Accepted artists are reviewed on an annual basis
for up to three years at which time artists may reapply to the program.
